Demand Planning Analyst (Toronto, Ontario)

Primary function: Reporting to the Tempur Operations Director, this position will be responsible for operations planning process including the preparation and presentation of forecast models on the purchasing of 3PL inventory and monitoring, tracking and purchasing of regular inventory.  This role will also responsible for analyzing both current and historical sales data to provide recommendations that will lead to the achievement of our strategic targets on inventory, ROIs, and sales performance. This role will also be involved with the development of business intelligence reporting, assisting with system implementations, and managing the integrity of the data warehouses.  

Your Responsibilities will include:

Participate in weekly and monthly forecast generation processes and reviewing tactical forecasts with the Sales and Marketing teams.  This includes reviewing inventory on-hand, promotion calendars and average volumes for each sku to be purchased weekly;

Communicate regularly with third party logistics, operations, customer service, outside carriers and vendors to address issues, obtain status updates and develop recommendations

Compile and analyse historical data, market trends, promotions and opportunities that drive the forecasting process;

Maintain measureable performance metrics (KPIs) for procurement and inventory control activities, including stock turns, purchasing efficiencies, vendor service levels, quality and inbound logistics;

Develop, monitor and analyze forecast performance and drive year-over-year improvements in accuracy through process improvements on customer level forecasting and demand shaping techniques;

Identify, develop and implement reports and performance metric analysis for sales and operations initiatives (e.g. ROI, cost variances, etc.);

Assist in the design and application of business reporting models using established data warehouses;

Provide overall analytical support for other sales, operations and supply chain initiatives, as required;

Assist in the weekly/monthly execution of Sales and Operations processes, including driving continuous improvement initiatives to improve process formats, mechanics, etc.

3-5 years of prior experience a planning and forecasting or demand analysis-related role, including database management;

Education: College diploma in Business or related discipline. A university degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management or Business Administration is an asset;

Experience working with ERP systems and advanced planning software (e.g. Dynamics AX, Zemeter/Arkieva, SQL, Hyperion, etc.) is an asset

Strong computer skills particularly with Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook

A high detail orientation and strong time management skills;

Effective communication, both written, and verbal.
