Job Description

PeopleReady, a TrueBlue company, is looking for Cooks in the Toronto, ON area.

FIRST COOK

Job Responsibilities and Requirements Include:

  • Delegates food orders during service to appropriate cooks to ensure food is prepared and presented in an organized, timely manner.
  • Prepares stocks, sauces, soups
  • Cleans and prepares all protein items (butcher, etc.
  • Designs and implements pre-approved daily specials
  • Trains and supports Second and Third Cooks during daily operations
  • Completes the ASI Checklist on a daily basis.
  • Prepares menu items according to company recipe standards
  • Reports any concerns with product, equipment or associate performance to kitchen management team
  • Adheres to local health, safety and fire procedures and laws
  • Attends and participates in the daily pre-shift meeting
  • Handles guest concerns, compliments and suggestions in a professional manner, using LEARN processes and principles
  • Follows all company and job-specific safety policies, and reports any accident and/or hazard immediately
  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalency
  • Red Seal or equivalent certification
  • Knowledge of local health and safety and sanitation laws.
  • Previous culinary experience in a high-volume food service operation.
  • Knowledge of recent culinary trends an asset.

Pay Rate: $20 per hour

SECOND COOK

Job Responsibilities and Requirements Include:

  • Prepares short-order hot items
  • Clean and prepare cold items for service (dressings, salads, sandwiches, etc.)
  • Prepares menu items according to company recipe standards.
  • Maintains established levels to ensure efficient food production throughout shift
  • Reports any concerns with product, equipment or associate performance to kitchen management team
  • Adheres to local health, safety and fire procedures and laws
  • Attends and participates in the daily pre-shift meeting
  • Handles guest concerns, compliments and suggestions in a professional manner, using LEARN processes and principles
  • Follows all company and job-specific safety policies, and reports any accident and/or hazard immediately
  • Minimum 12 months experience working in a high volume food service operation.
  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalency
  • Some formal culinary training preferred
  • Knowledge of local health and sanitation laws
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while fulfilling various demands
  • Ability to maintain a groomed appearance in accordance with company policies

Pay Rate: $18 per hour

THIRD COOK

Job Responsibilities and Requirements Include:

  • Assists the on-duty Banquet Chef in daily food production and presentation of food.
  • To set up and tear down the breakfast buffet in the Bistro.
  • Cleans and replenishes the breakfast buffet as necessary
  • Makes recommendations to the Executive Chef for improvement of the breakfast buffet and brings forward any guest comments or concerns
  • Report any concerns regarding products, equipment or associate performance to the kitchen management team
  • Adheres to local liquor, health, safety and fire laws and established company policies
  • Attends and participates in the daily pre-shift meeting
  • Demonstrates the behaviours of the Daily Savvy Basics.
  • Handles guest concerns, compliments and suggestions in a professional manner, using LEARN processes and principles
  • Follows all company and job-specific safety policies, and reports any accident and/or hazard immediately
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalency
  • Knowledge of local health and safety and sanitation laws
  • Previous culinary experience in a high volume food service operation an asset
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain a groomed appearance in accordance with company policies

Pay Rate: $16.50 per hour
