Overview:

Cara Operations Limited is searching for two System Operations Analysts to join our team of IT professionals located in Scarborough.

The System Operations Analyst (SOA) is the first point of contact for technical issues affecting production systems and network. The SOA is responsible for addressing and coordinating technical problems to resolution by following standard runbook processes, matching and escalating to IT support resources as needed, ensuring priority issues are resolved quickly. In addition, the SOA will aid in managing communications to both internal and external parties related to system outages and issues.

As a System Operations Analyst, you will identify, isolate, communicate, and assist in the resolution of network related alerts & faults received from the Network and System Management Systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day systems management for all customer-facing production systems and network for alarm indications
  • Perform proactive and reactive network/infrastructure monitoring and health checks to minimize service disruptions and impact on end users.
  • Utilize system and network tools for alarm monitoring and testing to ensure immediate action when fault is detected
  • Serve as primary initial responder in identifying issues, troubleshooting / correlating issues, assessing impact, and coordinating resolution.
  • Diagnose system and network failure in a timely manner ensuring resolution from beginning to end
  • Escalate trouble tickets to appropriate internal and external parties to facilitate repairs
  • Keeping knowledge up to date regarding improvements with new process/procedures and new technology.
  • Document all activities in ticketing system.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for efficient NOC operations (including maintaining inventory of sites, contacts, and infrastructure).
  • Smoothly transfer information at the end of each shift with other SOA staff about any outstanding issues and tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the continued success of technology services.

Key Qualifications

  • Hands on functional knowledge of Windows, Linux and IP networking
  • Self-starter with ability to work unsupervised or in a team environment
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to learn a variety of troubleshooting methodology
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently
  • Ability to keep focused and motivated over extended durations of monitoring various systems
  • Solid communication skills to coordinate repair efforts and trouble reports to various teams
  • Capability to work flexible hours to maintain network stability across a 24×7/365 schedule
  • Proficient in MS Office suite

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma with telecommunications or Information Technology experience; college/university enrollment beneficial
  • Technical certifications and/or completion of technical courses are beneficial
