HRC Retail Advisory

This is a Contract position in Toronto, ON posted September 7, 2017.

Job Description

We are currently hiring candidates who have a passion for developing data-driven insights to help our retail clients to identify performance improvement opportunities. You will support our Data Analytics Director in leveraging your core technical skills to build client facing tools, manage large data sets, and conduct analysis on a variety of projects. These projects will be primarily focused in the areas of Merchandising, Marketing, Finance, and Store Operations. You will also develop tools to support retailers to more effectively drive their business, primarily using MS Excel or Access as the platform.

This position will actively work with our experienced team of Retail consultants to craft our analyses and develop tools to help navigate towards the best performance improvement solutions for our retail clients. You will gain experience on a wide variety of projects as an integral team member, and depending on the candidate’s aspirations, this position also serves as a career path into our Consulting-level roles.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, ideally in Business or Information Technology
  • Minimum 5 years working in a corporate environment, ideally for a major retailer or analytics firm
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and Access, VBA required
  • Experience building Excel-based dashboards and analytical tools.
  • MS SQL Server, Tableau, Alteryx experience preferred (but not required)
  • Well-developed problem solving and analytical skills with the ability manage large scale data management
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and exercise mature judgment

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERTISE

  • Exceptional strategic and financial analysis skills (e.g., market and customer segmentation, competitive analysis, financial modeling, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
  • Ability to travel to client site 50% – 75% of time.
  • Demonstrated self-starter with a high level of energy and motivation
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, tasks and assignments
  • Creative thinker with the ability to synthesize both qualitative (‘the art’) and quantitative (‘the science’) inputs
