A thriving standalone business with projects independent and distinct from our architectural practice has been established with 8 regional interiors studios in Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Seattle, Shanghai, Singapore, Beijing and Hong Kong.

Our teams of interior designers create environments that seamlessly integrate people, the environment, technology and the ultimate purpose of the space. We believe in a collaborative approach to design and encourage input from our clients throughout all stages of the project.

Our clients range from mid-size to large businesses in corporate workplace, with a recent focus on working with legal, energy and tech-sector clients. This Opportunity

The CHIL Toronto studio is seeking a highly-motivated Intermediate Interior Designer to join our Interiors Practice. We are looking for a strong team player who can work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This individual will have a passion for hospitality design and be creative to the core, driven by success and embracing their part within a diverse, high performing, multi-disciplinary global firm. The Intermediate Hospitality Interior Designer will be able to effectively interact and collaborate with a wide range of team members and service providers (e.g. developers, operators, architects, engineers, contractors, suppliers etc.)

Specific Position Responsibilities

· Support CHIL Principals and senior staff to produce compelling and informative proposals and presentations.

· Participate in client meetings as an effective presenter and representative of the CHIL Interior Design team.

· Provide space planning that accurately reflects the project’s programmatic and functional requirements and design considerations and meets applicable building code criteria.

· Guide 2D and 3D development of design concepts, with emphasis on developing high quality designs and renderings.

· Prepare documentation for the selection, specification, procurement and installation of FFE fixtures, furnishings and equipment, including detailed layout drawings and schedules.

· Prepare Contract Documents (plans, elevations, sections, details and schedules) primarily in AutoCAD.

· Research, gather, recommend and present appropriate finishes and furnishings to the team, to capture the functional, aesthetic, environmental and budgetary requirements of the project, with an understanding of how texture, light, colour and other factors interact to create an elegant and timeless environment.

· Maintain positive client relationships through attentive and results-oriented service.

Position Requirements

· A degree or diploma from a CIDA accredited Interior Design program.

· At least 5 years’ professional experience with a recognized Interior Design firm with hospitality interiors experience.

· Comfortable with AutoCAD as a planning and 3D modelling tool.

· Sound knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint).

· Familiarity with 3D modelling and graphics programs (e.g. Google Sketchup, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign etc) would be an asset.

· Solid portfolio and experience featuring diverse creative projects emphasizing Hospitality and Residential design.

· Self-directed, able to work independently knowing when to reach out for guidance and support.

· Excellent time management and organizational skills.
