The impact you’ll make and what we’ll accomplish together Supported by the TELUS Data & Trust Office and reporting to the Director of Privacy, TELUS Health, you will be responsible for all aspects of privacy program management, including the identification of privacy risks, drafting policies and procedures, providing training and education, as well as investigating and managing privacy breaches, inquiries or complaints.

You support and collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure that TELUS Health not only complies with the privacy laws and regulations, but implements best practices and innovative privacy solutions to earn the trust of internal and external stakeholders.

You also play a role in supporting and evolving TELUS’ overall data governance framework, to help TELUS exercise and demonstrate leadership in all aspects of data governance and specifically in the ethical use of data.

Here’s how: Reviewing and drafting Privacy Impact Assessments, identifying risks and providing corresponding recommendations Providing privacy advice and support to the various business streams across the TELUS Health business such as EMRs, pharmacy services, health benefits management, financial solutions, claims and adjudication, etc Supporting RFP and contracting activities by reviewing privacy terms and responses Supporting M&A due diligence activities by reviewing target answers, documentation, and engaging with all stakeholders for privacy matters Developing operational policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance with privacy legislation and TELUS’ privacy commitments Supporting our customer privacy commitments while coaching/guiding stakeholders on internal controls and governance processes Partnering with the leadership team to understand and anticipate their privacy needs and any risks associated with their strategic plans Developing strong relationships with other team members across the organization in various business units to better enable you to work as a business partner Collaborating and influencing external stakeholders, including providers, patients, regulators, and other key stakeholder groups in the healthcare ecosystem Contributing to the preparation of quarterly reports to senior management on privacy and data governance risks Keeping up to date on emerging trends and practices related to information privacy Learning continuously, innovating every day and seeking opportunities to develop and demonstrate thought-leadership You’re the missing piece of the puzzle Recognized for your knowledge and expertise in applying privacy laws, including the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA), and guidance in a healthcare or health-related context Proven experience in driving and executing compliance programs, risk management, analysis and operational improvement Recognized for your leadership capabilities to collaborate and accomplish goals with others, including the ability to lead cross-functional teams where required Trusted as a collaborative colleague who will act with integrity to fulfil TELUS’ commitments to its customers Known for your ability to influence and negotiate effectively, to be a persuasive advocate Noted conflict resolution skills with a focus on win-win solutions at all times/strong collaborative skills to work with the business as a partner Sought after for your ability to develop creative solutions where challenges are presented Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop strong relationships across all levels of the organization Ability to deal with ambiguity and complex concepts Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to mentor and coach Ability to take initiative and be proactive in identifying opportunities to support and enhance respect for privacy With Post-secondary education IAPP certified (or willing to become certified within 6 months) Great-to-haves French/English bilingual capabilities are a highly valued asset for this role Legal background/experience is an asset Project management experience is an asset Who is TELUS?
