Health Info Management Professional II – Stollery Cardiology Program

This is a Full-time position in Scarborough, ON posted April 30, 2021.

Your Opportunity: The Analyst reports directly to the ”Program Manager” and provides information management support to Stollery Pediatric Cardiology, but also to Stollery PCICU, Cardiovascular Surgery, QI, and Adult Congenital Cardiology programs by performing data extraction, analysis, query development and reports.

These will be done primarily utilizing the Western Canadian Children’s Heart Network (WCCHN) applications, with the possibility of interrogating other local data sources, such as Xcelera, NetCare, EPIC and eClinician as required.

The Analyst is also responsible for ensuring that all required permissions/documentation are met and attained for all incoming requests, always abiding by the highest standards of patient confidentiality and principles within Alberta’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, as well as the Health Information Act.

Local IRB approval processes must also be followed.

The Analyst is responsible for consulting with clinical clients to determine the appropriate methodology, data types/elements/sources to support the evaluation of the project, analysis and interpretation, and preparation of reports.

The Analyst works with a variety of data types and sources, and collaborates with statistical experts to provide qualitative and statistical analysis of various program metrics and quality outputs resulting in program quality improvement.

The analyst will also be required to support local coding process for the Stollery Cardiosurgical program.

The Analyst works closely and in collaboration with the WCCHN Database Project Manager and WCCHN Systems Analyst on a regular basis.

Description: As a Health Information Management Professional (HIMP) II, you will provide leadership in the development, implementation and reporting for health information services.

You will be responsible for the coordination of daily operations as well as training new staff in your assigned area.

You will deliver operational guidance and support to ensure that clinical information is timely, accurate and valid.

Active or eligible for registration with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA).

Additional Required Qualifications: Familiarity and knowledge of the use of clinical diagnostic and surgical nomenclature and classification systems.

Minimum two years related experience in a healthcare environment.

Minimum three years’ experience working with spreadsheets, databases and tools for querying, integrating, analyzing and reporting data.

Oracle SQL, Crystal Reports or other comparable database query and report writing experience.

Excellent interpersonal relations and demonstrated ability to work with others effectively in teams.

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio and Access) and the ability to become proficient with new software packages.

Demonstrated ability to manage timelines while prioritizing multiple requests with competing deadlines.
