Reporting to the Manager of 7th Level Paediatrics, and Manager of Emergency, the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning implementation and evaluating nursing care and practice activities in a multidisciplinary family centred care environment.

As part of our multidisciplinary team you will provide patient support in a family centred environment, which includes parent beds in single, family patient rooms, kitchen facilities, lounge, showers and playrooms.

• Current certification with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Competent to perform CPR at a Basic Life Support level
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certificate
• Current Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certificate
• Critical Care and/or Emergency Certificate from a recognized institution
• Health assessment course or equivalent experience
• Minimum of (1) year of current Emergency and/or (2) years current Medical/Surgical nursing experience
• Current paediatric knowledge and experience related to paediatric disease process and paediatric family-centred care (medical/surgical/mental health)
• Recent Paediatric nursing experience
• Evidence of sound organizational & prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations
• Excellent communication, documentation and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff and the community
• Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers & other members of the community and public
• Ability to work well independently and exercise sound judgement
• Ability to perform the essential duties of the position
• Demonstrates values consistent with SHN′s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation
• Utilize protective equipment provided and identify and reports hazards
• Engages in ethical conduct and strives to understand and appreciate the diversity of our patient/staff population and community
