Research across UHN’s five research institutes spans the full spectrum of diseases and disciplines, including cancer, cardiovascular sciences, transplantation, neural and sensory sciences, musculoskeletal health, rehabilitation sciences, and community and population health.

The Web Content/Communications Specialist, Research will work closely with UHN research and digital departments on a number of dynamic and large-scale collaborative projects.

A main focus will be the redevelopment of the research intranet, which serves as a central source of information for the over 4,700 researchers, trainees and staff involved in research at UHN.

This task involves website design, photography, videography, graphic design, project management and user experience (UX) testing.

Long term and parallel tasks include 1) managing the social media accounts for research at UHN, 2) moderation of web content to ensure accuracy, readability and accessibility, 3) ongoing website maintenance and optimization; 4) training of website content contributors; and 5) the writing and editing of articles to promote research at UHN.

Other annual projects include the production of visually appealing digital research reports (example: https://online.flipbuilder.com/ubbi/idyl/), videos, and other lay-friendly websites and publications.

Qualifications
• At minimum, a Masters in life sciences or biomedical field
• Minimum (1) year of practical and related experience required
• Familiarity with writing for publication, handling/copy editing of complex material for a lay audience and producing material to deadline
• Experience with web content management system (CMS) platforms, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), HTML required
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and Adobe Creative Suite required
• Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills required
• Excellent interpersonal skills required
• Excellent research skills required
• Excellent organizational skills (planning and implementation) required; good time management skills
• Ability to provide communications consultation to various research stakeholders
• Ability to convey complex ideas in clear/simple language
• Ability to work effectively under pressure
