Warehouse Manager


This is a Contract position in Toronto, ON posted May 9, 2018.

Job Description

Reporting to the General Manager, the Warehouse Manager oversees operations of all shipping, receiving, and warehouse activity at a slaughter/meat plant.

Ensure that quantitative and qualitative measures included in the operating plan are met; this includes priorities related to health and safety, budgets, cost reductions, productivity, good manufacturing practices, sanitation, customer service, and staffing. The incumbent participates in maintaining the requirements on food safety and quality.

Specifically, the Manager

  • Ensures that all Health and Safety related requirements are met within the department

  • Leads and directs a team staff, and indirectly unionized teammates

  • Ensure key performance indicators include Health and Safety, Sanitation, Customer Service/Satisfaction, Inventory losses/damages, communications, HACCP requirements, standard costs, cost reductions, productivity and good manufacturing practices are adhered to;

  • Works closely with the Production Department in order to meet the needs of the warehouse as it relates to available inventory

  • Promotes and enhances a positive employee relation’s environment including efforts to continuously improve teamwork and establish high levels of employee involvement.

  • Responsible for the budget administration and management,

  • Maintaining the integrity of the warehouse processes

  • Initiating, implementing and monitoring warehouse improvement projects


  • University degree in Operations Management, Logistics, Engineering or in a relevant field is preffered

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Manager directly involved in shipping and warehousing, preferably with refrigerated, limited shelf life food product

  • Demonstrated interpersonal, communication, leadership skills and the ability to work in a team environment

  • Experience in health and safety leadership, HACCP, SQF, quality assurance and good manufacturing practices

  • Strong computer literacy, ideally with MS Office (Word & Excel)

  • Some experience with a WMS is an asset

  • Experience in a unionized environment is an asset
