Assistant Technician, Distribution Services

This is a Contract position in Scarborough, ON posted June 7, 2021.

JOB SUMMARY Reporting to the Equipment Supply Associate, or designate t he Technician cleans and repairs health equipment at a HELP distribution centre, and also supports HELP technical volunteers.


Equipment Reprocessing 60% Cleans and disinfects health equipment as per established procedures R eports /documents all safety issues and incidents Inspects and maintains health equipment according to established standards Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions and carries out repairs, following manufacturer’s specifications, when available Documents repairs and maintains up-to-date equipment records in inventory management system Responsibility 2.

Program Operations 20% Disposes of surplus or unusable equipment in HELP depots Performs routine cleaning and disinfection of work surfaces, storage areas, and reprocessing equipment Unpacks, assembles and labels new equipment On occasion assists with equipment picks ups and deliveries equipment at clients homes Responsibility 3.

Quality Assurance 20% Ensures all reprocessed equipment meets quality standards Provides training and support to volunteers regarding equipment reprocessing Assesses need for equipment, tools and parts and advises supervisor of needs Maintains a clean and organized work area & vehicle to ensure efficiency and safety Screens donated equipment, ensuring that it is not subject to a recall or safety advisory Complies with safe work procedures and health and safety policies Integrates volunteer resources within the scope of responsibilities, as required.

Participates in disaster planning, preparation and response, as required.

Contributes to a healthy and safe working environment.

Performs other duties, as required.

QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE This position requires completion of Grade 12 and/or post-secondary education in a related field.

Mechanical ability Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

This position requires a satisfactory vulnerable sector check Applicants must also meet the criteria established by Service Canada funding, which includes: Must be between 18 and 30 years of age at the start of employment Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or a person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of employment Must have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial legislation and regulations SKILLS AND ABILITIES Strong verbal communication skills WORKING CONDITIONS Frequent lifting is required.
