Job Description

Reporting to the VP, Finance, the Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the accounting, forecasting and financial reporting while working closely with business partners and stakeholders.

By leading and mentoring the finance team, the Financial Controller will foster a culture of continuous improvement, developing improved financial policies, processes and controls to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Oversee daily operations of the finance team including retail sales processing and payment processing.
• Oversee monthly financial and management reporting, developing improved key metric dashboards, rolling forecasts, variance analysis and forecasting models.
• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and support provided to stakeholders and operational teams to facilitate cross-functional communication.
• Identify and develop effective and efficient standard operating, reporting and financial control policies and procedures in compliance with IFRS principles and best practices.
• Oversee external audit, draft financial statements and annual report.
• Identify and implement opportunities to promote streamlined processes, operational efficiency and enhanced internal controls from operational system capture through to final reporting.
• Mentor staff, providing guidance, training and effective performance management and career development to the finance team.
• Support change management, including system implementations or enhancements and standardization of the financial accounting and reporting infrastructure.

• A minimum of eight (8) years of management, supervisory and coaching experience.
• Proven change management and process improvement track record; familiar with Six Sigma or Lean methodologies.
• Strong leadership skills, including excellent listening, facilitating, presenting, and communicating (oral and written).
• Excellent time management and prioritization skills, sound initiative and ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Highly analytical, with strong technical accounting knowledge.
• Enjoys change, able to adapt quickly, is proactive and flexible.
• Has advanced proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

• A professional accounting designation (CPA CA, CPA CMA, CPA CGA) combined with an undergraduate degree in business, finance or accounting.
