Coordinator, Trades and Applied Technology Enrolment Services and Operation Employment Group CUPE Position Number 00717 Division Faculty of Trades and Applied Technology Department Trades and Applied Technology Administration Campus Nanaimo campus Location Nanaimo, British Columbia Country Canada Appointment Type temporary full-time FTE 1 Workload 35 hours per week Pay Level CUPE 9: $28.67 per hour Start: As soon as possible Appointment End Date 18-Aug-2023 Leave Replacement Appointment may end early or be extended Applicant Documents CV/Resume, Cover Letter, Driver’s Abstract, Referees/References Posted Date 05-Jan-2023 Closing Date 18-Jan-2023 Job Reference 1978 Duties: Manage and maintain the Trades and Applied Technology annual training plan for submission to the Industry Training Authority (ITA), and confirm ITA exam administration fees are paid accurately.

Manage and maintain course data entry using the Scheduling and Workload System (SAWS) for all T&AT programs at all VIU campuses.

Coordinate Industry Training Authority ID numbers for students in the Baking and Pastry Arts program, Culinary Arts Program, and Heavy Equipment Operator program (disseminate instructions, approve sponsorship requests, process work-based training hours, sign off on Recommendation for Certification between levels, and terminate sponsorship upon completion or withdrawal from the program).

Disseminate step-by-step instructions and follow up with all Trades and Applied Technology foundation students on creating an ITA ID.

Coordinate and schedule all ITA exam sessions (Certificates of Qualifications, Interprovincial Exams, and Standard Level Exams) in consultation with the ITA.

Notify the ITA of student withdrawals, date changes, or exam accommodations.

Maintain and disseminate Trades and Applied Technology work procedures regarding apprenticeship and Heavy Equipment Operator registration processes, including collaborating with office staff to review and ensure understanding of procedures.

Provide unofficial transcripts with overall marks to appropriate School Districts for their Dual Credit students in all T&AT programs.

Collaborate with departments offering contract programs and complete Contract Details Forms for submission.

Liaise with WorkBC to advise on training dates of all Trades and Applied Technology programs and ensure procedure changes are communicated with office staff.

Coordinate annual Skills BC Regional competition.

Backfill for the Administrative Assistant to the Dean.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: Two-year post-secondary diploma (or Office Administration certificate plus one-year post-secondary studies) and five years of recent, relevant experience.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Intermediate experience using Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Teams, and other applications including Zoom.

Intermediate-level keyboarding speed of 50 words per minute.

Class 5 driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with VIU registration and Industry Training Authority (ITA) systems.

Experience with the BC trades apprenticeship training system and requirements.

Knowledge of VIU programs, policies, and procedures.
