Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting, the Financial Analyst ("FA") is responsible for providing Finance customers with value-added information and analysis to assist in their decision-making process for managing the day-to-day and long-term business needs of the organization, preparing externally reported financial information, including IFRS compliant financial statements, financial news releases and the consolidated MD&A.

The FA will also be responsible for preparing and reviewing timely, accurate and complete financial and management reporting information and reports to meet the requirements of both internal (i.e. board, executives and business units) and external customers (i.e. regulators and auditors). Understanding the customers’ requirements, identifying the correct source of data, extracting the data and structuring it in a meaningful way are critical parts of this responsibility.

The FA will be expected to self-review work performed/reports prepared for reasonability, accuracy and completeness. This role requires the utmost professionalism and service levels in meeting the strict deadlines and providing quality service. Well-developed analytical skills and attention to detail are critical attributes.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Preparing financial reporting materials, including quarterly and annual financial statements, MD&A, financial news releases and monthly management commentary
  • Providing finance customers with value-added financial information and analysis to assist in their decision-making process
  • Understanding the customers’ requirements, identifying the correct source of data, extracting the data and structuring it in a meaningful way
  • Interact with other business units to obtain and/or provide financial information
  • Preparing journal entries, general ledger reconciliations and monthly analyses
  • Preparing ad-hoc reporting materials and reviewing timely, accurate and complete financial information (recurring and ad-hoc) and reports to meet the requirements of finance customers
  • Self-review work performed/reports prepared for reasonability, accuracy and completeness

Your Skills & Experience:

  • University degree in Accounting or Business
  • A recognized accounting designation, preferably a CPA, CA or near completion
  • Prior experience in financial reporting or auditing financial reports
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Professional, friendly and courteous in all interactions
  • Calm under pressure and performs well in a busy environment
  • Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrates an overall business approach that is both customer and results-oriented
  • Strong attention to detail
  • As part of the selection process, this role requires candidates to successfully clear a Criminal Background Check and a Credit Check
