Studio Manager – Retail / Service

This is a Contract position in Toronto, ON posted November 4, 2017.

Job Description

POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Studio Manager is primarily responsible for creating a friendly environment to optimize sales and customer service while utilizing a motivational approach to drive and enhance team performance.

The Manager ensures that the sales process is maximized, quality service and care are delivered to clients, team members are coached and key operational/service standards are maintained as well as enhanced.


  • Development of sales targets and analysis of weekly, monthly, annual goals and strategy to increase sales. Manage lead volume & progress and service/products upgrade.
  • Develops and executes marketing strategies focused on achieving financial goals, for direct client acquisitions and inter-department referrals.
  • Manage day to day operation of the studio, including; reception, reservations, hosting, maintenance/quality control; including service, cleanliness and product usage, etc.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, scheduling, performance reviews, conflict management, business building, skill enhancement and goal setting.
  • Analyzes and monitors Key Performance Indicators (contract sales, department profits, expenses, retention, etc.) to identify trends, opportunities, deficiencies; takes action to positively impact sales and profit.
  • Models the brand, values, and lifestyle, maintains a professional image at all times; sets high standards for self, based upon competency model; builds an effective network within the company, across all departments, and in the local market.
  • Ensures team members complete all paperwork, client forms, client correspondence, series sold etc. in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Ensures staff adherence to treatment standards and are fully executing the company policies and procedures. Enhance current and create new standards per healthcare regulations.
  • Researches and resolves client concerns promptly; shares best practices regarding client retention and service with other departments/managers so all can learn from concerns and solutions; puts the client first and models service and care standards at all times.
  • Tracks performance on sales activities, staff productivity and supplies/inventory.
  • Ensures team members are engaged and morale is high within the department; recognizes team members for high performance on a daily basis; communicates information needed to all team members and conducts weekly team member meetings.
  • Staffs department to ensure availability and maximize productivity of team
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

  • Communicates the company’s vision with the team, balances short and long term goals, keeps own and team’s work aligned with overall goals, understands the market and works to anticipate change, understands the industry and the competition, creates and adjusts strategic plans.


  • Minimum of five years of management in retail or service industry
  • Knowledge of tattoo/piercing or high end service industry, sales, people management, customer service and inventory management
  • Must enjoy sales and working directly with clients to ensure excellent customer service and impeccable person ability skills
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings when required by business needs
  • College degree or equivalent professional experience required
  • Proven track record of meeting and achieving goals/targets, cost control skills
  • Excellent technical/computer/closing skills
  • Ability to create and implement such documents as staff schedules, safety rules, standard operating procedures, and performance reviews
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills
  • Must be able to prioritize, multi-task and have creative problem solving skills.
