Trade Compliance & Customs Specialist

We are a dynamic leader in supplying consumables to events and movie productions.

We’re looking to fill a Trade Compliance and Customs Specialist position that is fast-paced and very detail oriented.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and direction for day to day Supply Chain and Logistics operations to ensure 100% compliance for all products imported and exported into/out of Canada and USA
  • Ensure timely processing of accounting documents to Finance and Canada Customs
  • Undertake special projects as assigned
  • Determine tariff classification and duty rates based on Customs regulations for all imported/exported products
  • Ensure product details (e.g. HTS codes, Title, UPC..) are correctly tracked and inputted into our proprietary ERP system
  • Preparing documents for USA or Canada duty drawback programs
  • Provides direction and guidance considering all applicable international trade agreements
  • Prepare NAFTA Refunds, accounting refunds and amends as necessary
  • Research all Customs-related issues, i.e. Rulings, regulations and trade agreements for North America and International
  • Provide import/export customs requirements and documents for special purposes (ie, trade shows, distributor meetings, etc.)
  • Communicate with Customs broker for any customs clearance problems or delays
  • Assist in any Customs Audits (Canada and USA)

Experience, Education and Designations:

  • Post-Secondary Education; Customs Certification
  • 2 Years similar job experience in cross-border logistics and customs procedures
  • Strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:

  • Good planning and organizational skills; attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple, changing priorities and tight deadlines
  • Skilled at negotiating and resolving conflict
  • Ability to analyze statistical reports
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Ability to build collaborative working relationships with internal colleagues and external vendors
  • International Freight Forwarding experience a plus

Working Conditions:

  • Typical office environment – combination of desk work + active meeting facilitation
  • Minimal travel required
