Reporting to the Supervisor, Nutrition and Food Services, the Cook will be responsible for the production of Patient Meals for both Hot Food Service and Cook Chill production depending on which site they will be covering.
The cook will be responsible for cooking in both a cook chill retherm & hot food service meal plating model of food delivery. Maintaining production records and forecasting food production, maintaining and sanitizing work area and all related equipment, and other related duties as assigned.
• Red Seal Certification (an asset) or relevant experience in Healthcare/Hospitality environment
• Advanced.fst Certificate
• WHMIS Training
• Minimum 3-5 years experience as a cook or relevant skills working in Healthcare/Hospitality
• Experience with Cook Chill and Hot Plate meal service and asset
• Evidence of Leadership & positive team-based skills
• Must have mathematical skills, be able to forecast production needs, problem solving skills, and be able to work independently and be self directed in fast paced environment, adjusting to changing priorities.
• Demonstrate an understanding and commitment to safety programs which include staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participate in regular in-service education as it relates to food production.
• Demonstrate a commitment to improve the Patient Experience through effective communication when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public.
• Demonstrate a pattern of good attendance.
Physical Demands:
• Constant standing and/or walking
• Manual dexterity for handling equipment and supplies
• Must be able to lift up to 30kg
• Exposure to heat and cold of production/service/storage/ware-washing areas
• Handling of cleaning and sanitizing solvents
• Exposure to loud noise of environment.
