Manager, Business Case Review


This is a Full-time position in Scarborough, ON posted April 29, 2021.

The Manager, Business Case Review contributes to the overall success of the Corporate Project Management Office ensuring specific individual and departmental goals are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.

Ensuring all activities conducted within the Business Cases are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures and aligning with authorized funding plans.

Key Accountabilities: Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge Contributes to all aspects of the business case review process Manages the post implementation review and benefit validation Acts as Finance relationship manager for business cases and project spend; providing financial guidance to partners, and identifying and communicating financial-related issues (e.g.

actual/committed vs.

budget/forecast) Prepares and presents complex financial data and information in a meaningful, concise and user-friendly manner for management Contributes to the maintenance of strong financial governance through implementing best practices.

Supports audit requests and the communication of financial policies, guidelines and Bank practices Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment Experience / Education: A professional designation (e.g.

CPA, CFA) or graduate degree (e.g.

MBA) preferred Knowledge of financial and management reporting standards applied to banking issues (e.g.

Intangibles), and understanding of the business planning process, dealing with accounting systems, budgets and internal controls Strong technical skills in MS Excel (MS Excel VBA would be an asset) Location(s): Canada : Ontario : Scarborough Scotiabank is a leading bank in the Americas.
