We offer an unparalleled array of turnkey services such as product development, R+D, QA/QC services, client services and manufacturing solutions for big name beauty brands within the cosmetic industry. Cosmetica has a simple strategy: the best innovation, the best execution and service, the best speed-to-market, and the best people. Could that be you? As our new Operations Manager, your work will focus on two primary areas. Primarily, you’ll be overseeing the daily operations of our production facilities by leading a team of supervisors. Using your detailed knowledge of manufacturing best practices and relevant legislation, you’ll assist in every stage of production: from hands-on support with troubleshooting to overseeing the distribution of labour and materials, your work will ensure a smooth, seamless production schedule. When you’re not engaged by day-to-day operations, you’ll be focusing on continuous improvement and strategic initiatives. We’re looking for someone who is creative, strategic, and looking to make their mark on the efficiency of our operations. Using systems of your own design, you’ll implement measures that reduce waste, increase efficiency, and generally improve output. Practically speaking, some of your responsibilities will include: * Continuous improvement of processes, systems, and procedures in areas such as production, quality assurance, and work flow* Coach staff in adapting to new production procedures/strategies/systems* Manage human resources to effectively meet department demands* Introduce waste reduction procedures and minimize lost time due to human error* Work closely with other senior managers to implement strategic initiatives* Communicate effectively with engineers, team leaders, and production workers* Anticipate future developments or potential issues, and plan for/prevent/mitigate where possible* Ensure all work is performed in compliance with all regulatory requirements (GMP, safety and company policies)* Act as a specialized manufacturing resource to senior management to support resolution of complex issues* Oversee operating budgets Strong leadership skills will separate the good from the great in this role. We are committed to developing great leaders and we provide progressive and ongoing leadership training. Qualifications * Degree in mechanical/manufacturing engineering or related* 10+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with progressive responsibilities, preferably in cosmetics/pharma/food manufacturing or a related industry* Experience in production analysis/troubleshooting/correction* Experience working with multiple departments on material/labor allocations and scheduling* Experience building manufacturing systems (Integrated Work Systems or TPM)* Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (pharma, packed consumer goods, or similar)* MBA would be an asset* Experience in Tier 1 or 2 automotive manufacturing would be an asset* Proficiency/certification with Lean Six Sigma* Strong knowledge of relevant Health and Safety legislation in Ontario How to Apply Our online application will give you the option to apply to this role as a complete person – not just a resume.
