Scarborough Health Network surgical program is offering a sponsorship opportunity to Registered Nurses interested in the Post Anesthetic Care Unit (PACU) who are registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO). SHN will invest in successful candidates by funding the enrolment and completion of the PACU course in collaboration with Centennial College. Selected candidates will be required to attend a full-time online PACU program for approx. 2 weeks and complete clinical hours. The program has a potential start date of June 5, 2023 and will require a full-time commitment for the course and orientation from successful candidates. This position offers an abundance of opportunities for learning and growth for RNs!

• New to PACU Nursing? The program will take place over 2 weeks and will be followed by a meeting with a clinical practice leader to ensure that all of your learning goals are met.
• ACLS certification is offered in-house, (if not already certified).

• Current certification with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse in good standing
• Current BCLS
• Current ACLS certification
• Minimum 1 year of recent medical/surgical nursing experience
• Successful completion of Coronary Care 1
• Successful completion of the theoretical portion of the PACU program and Clinical placement
• Proven competent IV initiation skills and post-operative monitoring/assessment
• Demonstrates initiative and the ability to function both independently and as a multidisciplinary team member in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHN’s comprehensive safety programs and practices, including staff safety, patient safety, and environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area
• Demonstrates values consistent with SHN′s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation
• Engages in ethical conduct and strives to understand and appreciate the diversity of our patient/staff population and community
• Ability to perform the essential duties of the position
• BScN
• PALS
• Acute Care/Critical Care Level 2 Course
• Ability to speak another language
• Exposure to Lean principles
